Houston International Trade Development Council (HITDC) launches Educational Scholarship Program with the National Port Authority of Liberia with a Soft-Rollout Fundraising Campaign Reception

 

The Houston International Trade Development Council (HITDC), in collaboration with the National Port Authority of Liberia (NPA) Scholarship Committee, are launching the NPA Educational Scholarship program soft-rollout fundraising campaign to help raise funds for academic scholarships for deserving Liberian students and/or NPA employees to help build their capacity and strengthen their technical skills. A reception will be held with the NPA of Liberia’s Managing Director Honorable Diana Nebo and her distinguished delegation from Liberia, including the Minister of Commerce and Industry Honorable Mawine Diggs, on Friday, June 23, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. The event will be held at The International Trade Center – Houston, 111110 Bellaire Blvd., Houston, Texas, 77072.

The Houston International Trade Development Council (HITDC) hosts its third Houston Global Trade Conference & Expo

Pivot to Africa – “Reimagining the Engagement with the Continent of Africa”

 

The Houston International Trade Development Council (HITDC) will be hosting its third Houston Global Trade Conference & Expo (HGTC&E) Pivot to Africa – “Reimagining the Engagement with the Continent of Africa” on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Ballroom at Tanglewood located at 5430 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77056.

The purpose of the conference is to bring together energy, manufacturing, agriculture, IT, and construction companies, to name a few, from around the globe to meet Houston based companies and discuss business collaborations. The HGTC&E offers Houston area SMEs who plan to participate in international trade, an opportunity to meet potential partners. Houston area companies can also showcase their industries and international initiatives to visiting business delegations we have invited.

The morning Keynote Speaker is Mr. William Fanjoy, Senior Advisor for Private Sector Engagement for Prosper Africa who

coordinates the U.S. Government Interagency efforts in order to strategically advise U.S. and African businesses and connect them with the appropriate trade and investment resources, to substantially increase two-way trade and investment between the United States and African countries. Mr. Fanjoy will also participate in a panel discussion along with U.S. Commercial Service – Houston, MBDA – Houston, and EXIM Bank - Houston.

The Management of the National Port Authority (NPA) informs all Port Users that the rou-tine International Ship & Port Security (ISPS) protocols and Access Proce-dures are being Reinforced with vigorous actions against violators.

Containers Storage Waiver Above 90 Days

In fulfillment of the President’s mandate during her recent 11th State of the Nation Address, regarding waiver of storage on containers overstayed 90 days and above, the National Port Authority has worked out modalities and will start Public Service

(Monrovia-Monday, March 28, 2016): The Management of the National Port Authority has signed a contract value at over $ USD 6 million with Smit Lamnalco for the supply of marine crafts which includes two Tug Boats: namely, Lamnalco waxbill and Lamnalco wagtail. A patrol boat: Smit Qasim and Pilot boat: Smit Oloma, for use at the Port of Greenville in Sinoe County.

Agreement Between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Liberia on Maritime Transport, signed on November 3, 2015.

The National Port Authority (NPA) was established by an Act of the National Legislature in 1967 and amended in 1970 as a state-owned corporation to manage, plan, and build all public ports in Liberia. The NPA system comprises four ports: Freeport of Monrovia, Port of Buchanan, Port of Greenville, and Port of Harper.
